twins

One of our cows had twins a couple days ago.She had them way out in the pasture and I didn't want them that far from home so I waited for Paula to get home and we got them. One wasn't moving too good so I tossed it on the back of the pickup. I pushed the cow and other calf toward home. We were almost there and I saw Paula had stopped and had the calf on the ground. Iwent back and carried him the rest of the way. Talk about dead weight. We made it though. Today I decided we'd have to bottle feed the smaller calf. Mom just didn't recognize it as hers. Guess she never heard of twins. I drove the pickup out and put the calf in. When I went to get in Claire was tight against the drivers side door. She's never been good at sharing. Even worse the calf climbed onto the seat, and then rode nice. We put the calf in the barn and got some milk. Buzzie went nuts barking. He wouldn't leave so the rest of us went in and eventually he came to the house. Tonight I waited for Paula to feed. When we done Buzzie was barking again. I told Paula I was going in to take a bath and she could catch Buzz. It took them a long time to come in. She couldn't catch Buzz because he went back and forth under the fence, always barking though.

weather

The weather has been nice so I've gotten Siete out the last 2 days and probably will tomorrow. All 3 dogs were around when I got her ready but when I took off they had something at the grower and didn't go with me. I went across the road into the feed field and rode all the way to the north end. When we turned around there were all the dogs. Including Buzzie. We always turn back if Buzzie follows because he is so bad about watching for vehicles. Plus he's hard to see if there's any cover and I don't want to lose him. I got him back across the road and we made it back. This evening he has done nothing but sleep. That was a long way for him to go.

feeding

When I feed the horses Hero eats in a pen, Cass and Leilani eat in a room with a panel between them. They could go around the end but they don't. Stripe and Siete eat together outside. Leilani and Hero usually get done first but they have to wait until the 2 are done outside. Last night leilani was done but Siete and stripe for some reason were eating slow. When Leilani is done she starts throwing her dish around. Just in case something else might be in there. I kept tossing her dish back and she was having fun fetching like a dog. Cassy is always last done, she's not the eating machine she once was. Leilani has taken over that title. I was trying to line Leilani up so I could push her out but she wouldn't get in the right place. Then Cass just left the building. She'd had enough. Immediately Leilani went to her spot, grabbed her dish and headed out. I made a grab for the dish and Leilani just kept on going. I'm sure that her idea all along was to get Cass's food dish. Hero had to wait the whole time for Leilani to play her game. His dish was licked very clean.

soot

Got the furnace worked on last week. It was lots of fun for the dogs. This was an opportunity for Buzzie to poke into little places and check stuff out. Which he did. Soot is black so now Buzz is sort of dingy black. The other dogs did the same thing but they're more self cleaning. When they were getting ready to leave Buzzie jumped in with them. I'm not sure he's going to cut it as a watchdog.
