Leilani

Sunday Bryce rode Leilani all around the yard and then we all went out in the field. Leilani was a star. She is really no problem to ride. Yesterday I took her over to Kristy's to get new shoes. Stan was late and we were there forever. It was hot and windy and it was 5 before everyone was done. Then we saddled up and went out to ride in Kristy's arena. She's in the sand and it's really deep sand. I could tell when I was saddling Leilani was not in a very good mood. We rode into the arena. Leilani did ok but her heart wasn't in it. The problem in arenas is there isn't much to do. So you just go around. For a cranky horse it'd not a cheery thing. She was also cycling and there were geldings all over. So we'd go a little way, she throw her head and chew the bit, I'd ride her through it and then we'd do it over. This was all in deep sand that Leilani doesn't like anyway. We both got worn out. Tonight we went out and things went great. Leilani did everything I asked and she was cheery about it.I guess she and I are dirt types not sand types. When Stan was doing Siete he was on her back feet and she wasn't holding very still. Stan did something and Siete got a funny look on her face. Stan said her gave her tail a good tug. He said it makes their eyes pop out and then they stand still. He's right.
