Thursday we were out a little later than usual. We were coming through Hoisington about 10, that's about the middle of night for us. They've got main street done but the second half is still blocked off. Anyway the closed half was full of kids on bikes. Today we went to Lucas to see if the cows got washed away. They were way on the north end. Buzzie knew where he was and was getting excited and jumping all over the pickup. I said fine we're getting out and walking. Paula took off in the pickup and we were going to meet her at the windmill. She went about 50 feet and Buzzie took off after her and got in. Claire and I went on. Claire found a hole like usual and started digging. At first I didn't pay attention because she always does that. She was going really crazy so I walked over to look . It was a big hole, about 6-10 inches across. I told her let me look. I bent over and there was something inside hissing. I told Claire we're out of here and in a rare show of judgement she agreed. Paula asked what it was. I said I didn't know but I knew sort of where the hole was and I was sure Claire could find it again and then Paula could put her hand inside. She didn't.
