hard work

Buzzie worked hard today. I was picking up branches and didn't see him. I was a little surprised because that's his specialty. When I was driving out I saw him. He was sitting in the driveway staring at 2 geese about 10 feet away. They moved away when they saw the tractor and he followed them .He followed them around for quite awhile and then Claire got tired of watching him and chased the geese off. Then Buzzie started following me every time I took branches out. After I got done he went with me to work on the fence. Tonight he got on the lazyboy and hasn't got up all night. Not only is he tired he is unbelievably dirty.

storm

Had a big storm Sunday. During most of the storm Claire was in the closet or the tub. But then she went downstairs. She only does that when she thinks there's a tornado. It got me to looking outside but it was raining too hard to see anything. There were tornado alerts around so there is the possibility one was up in the air. Storms mostly don't bother Buzzie. There was a big crack of thunder. I must have been asleep, this was in the afternoon, and I woke up and thought I heard the lightning come in the house. Paula said that it had scared Buzzie and what I heard was Buzzie jumping up and spinning out on the floor. Lucy just laid on someone until the storm was over. She gets really hot and heavy.

ribs

Saw Beebe today. I whined until Paula went with me. We looked at the x-ray and Beebe thought it looked a little better. She said I had flail ribs. She thought someone had told me but it must have been during my drugged stage although Paula didn't remember either. That means that 3 ribs were broken in 2 places. Beebe said it would be like having a 2X4 and breaking the middle out of it. I said then what kept the rib from dropping down to the bottom. That got Beebe and Paula groaning. That's probably why it's taking awhile to heal. We came home and got on Cassy and Leilani. Leilani did ok but I was disappointed with myself. I wanted to get on and go but was tentative and had to force myself to do things.

cocky

Buzzie has made some long trips. One time when I was feeding I saw him and Claire heading down to the pond. Of course Claire left him and I had to go get him to make him come home. Another time I saw Claire and Buzzie west of the oilwell. Again
Claire left him. He wandered over to the cows and I got him home. I saw Lucy and Buzz heading west of the finisher and I yelled at them right away. There was nowhere he could end up out there that I could find him. The wheat's a little taller and he's not going anymore. I didn't think he was that smart.

Lucy

This afternoon I was picking up some sockets that I had spilled. I laid on the ground because it was easier to pick them up. I heard Buzzie barking like crazy and then the big girls heard and came over. They were all making a lot of noise but I could tell Buzzie was in a different place. I heard Buzzie getting close and I looked up. He was going by about 5 feet away chasing a coon. The coon was in no rush but Buzzie was really flying. I got up quick and looked to see where they were going. Buzzie chased the coon under the Dakota and I was going to circle around to see where they were going but Buzzie came right back out with the coon chasing him. I was trying to figure out how to grab Buzzie to save him without getting bit. Then Lucy came flying in. She hit the coon so hard she blew it way backwards. There were boards flying, they were knocking the ladders around and boxes were getting mashed. It's lucky the shed is still standing. Claire then jumped in. Buzzie continued barking and he would jump forward and then jump back. I don't think he trusted Lucy's biting accuracy. Eventually they quit and I checked the dogs for marks. They didn't get much in the way of cuts which is amazing. It's hard to see how Claire or Lucy could tell if they were biting the coon or each other. I guess it's part of being a dog.

wet

Got a bunch of snow last night. When we went out this morning Buzzie got covered with snow. His legs were totally clumps of snow and he had more snow on the top of his head. He's just like a little boy. When he got cold he wanted to go in. When we went in he knew exactly where he wanted to go.He got on grandma's side of the bed so he could dry off. That just got the wettest part since it takes hours for him to totally dry. This evening we were cutting burs out of him. I thought he had one on his foot but it was just caked mud.
