monday

Leilani went back to Dr. John to get her stitches out. I was a little nervous. We had a white paste to put on her cut. It set up like concrete and really protected the wound but it was hard to see what it looked like underneath. She got sedated and then it was easy to pick the stuff off. It looked good underneath but still looked huge. Brooks said it looked good and there was no sign of dead bone. This was the first I had heard of dead bone but maybe that's a good thing. He looked at her foot and was pleased with it. He told Leilani that soon she and dad would be riding again. Somebody has been talking to him because I don't think I said anything like that to him. I usually save the dad stuff for the people I know a little better.

Leilani

Today was Leilani's day to go to Wichita to see how her foot was doing. I got up and got her about 5 in the morning. When I got her I patted her on the head and she laid her ears back which I thought was a little strange because she likes her head patted. I put her in the trailer and saw a little blood but it was froze and I couldn't see much. At Tami's it was still dark and we figured she would need a few stitches. When we got inside at Brooks it thawed out and she had almost split her head open. The cut was about 6-8 inches long and was down to the bone. Brooks had so many stitches in her it was impossible to count them. Needless to say I'm really upset again. As an afterthought the foot is doing great.

haircut

Buzzie got a haircut and it must have been time. He has been on a rampage all week. I left him in the house yesterday and when I got back in he started running around. He started grabbing magazines off the table and tearing them up. He threw them all over and into the cats. He really shredded them. Today he was with me all day and is now exhausted. The cats will be happy when he gets over this. The dogs handle it a little better. They just bite him.

Nicki

We don't see Nicki in the house much but she's around a lot outside. Today Buzzie got in one of his running moods. He just starts tearing around, spinning out and circling anything he sees. Well he starts circling Nick. only problem he always gets too close and starts bumping. Nick went under the trailer to get away but Buzz just shot underneath. Nick came out from under the trailer and sat down. Buzzie came tearing up but when he got too close Nick slugged him in the nose. Buzz sat down, looked a little stunned, and walked off. How was he to know kitty wasn't playing?

feet

Did horse feet yesterday. I was a little concerned about Siete. The last time we tried to do her feet it didn't go well. Since then she has spent a lot of time at the learning tree. It worked too. She stood very well. Everyone stood well. Buzzie got absolutely filthy. The ground was a little damp so that meant the feet had a little mud on them. So when the feet got picked and Buzzie was underneath he got showered. He loved it of course. I met the farrier at Wendy's. Wendy was trying to get rid of some heeler pups but he said he was getting a black mouth cur. I told him I had one so I showed him Lucy when he got here. There wasn't much to showing Lucy since she was under foot.
